Robert Heller is a Licensed Professional Counselor that joined the Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals Group in May 2018. He received his Bachelors degree from Tulane University. Robert furthered his education and earned his Masters degree in Professional Counseling. Robert's area of expertise includes: working with individuals attempting to recover from an addiction as well as clients who are negatively impacted by the addiction of someone close to them, like a friend, partner, or family member.
Robert received his LPC licensure in Georgia and has worked in a range of clinical settings including residential and outpatient psychiatric settings, adolescent and adult outpatient substance abuse recovery and dual diagnosis treatment facilities. He has additional experience in private practice working with a wide range of mental health issues and treatments.
Robert specializes in working with adolescents and adults using a strength-based perspective. He employs Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and client-centered methodologies uniquely tailored to each client's goals and needs. Robert encourages his clients to think about the successes in their lives, no matter how seemingly "small". He believes that acknowledging every success facilitates belief in the possibility of enacting change. His famous quote is: "Giving yourself credit for each small step can make achieving your ultimate goal feel more attainable."
Robert considers himself a practical and interactive therapist. His treatment approach incorporates insight, humor, and compassion for clients as they work to uncover and utilize their own unique resources, strengths and abilities. He also has interest and experience in helping those with mental health disorders (which can include anxiety, depression, and character issues among others) and life transitions such as divorce, job change, or mid-life issues.
