Licensed Professional Counselor
Education and Specialty
Erin Richardson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She received her Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. In 2009, Erin obtained her Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University and became a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She has been licensed as a Professional Counselor since 2013.
Erin began her counseling career in August, 2009 at Ridgeview Institute. She served as Case Manager/Program Therapist providing partial and intensive outpatient services to psychiatric and addiction patients and their family members. Her experience ranges from inpatient care to outpatient care. Prior to her career in counseling, Erin was a contract employee at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Erin left her position with the CDC to pursue her passion to equip and empower people to live healthier, happier lives.
Erin has a wide range of experience including individual, group, couples, and family therapy. She believes the relationship developed between patient and therapist is the most important tool of therapy. She works with patients in meeting their therapeutic goals through the use of encouragement, education, and compassionate and empathic challenges. Erin recognizes the work of therapy and does not begin and end in the therapist's office and, therefore, uses homework assignments and other measures of accountability for practicing the tools of therapy outside of their therapist's office.
Erin specializes in providing therapeutic services for patients ages 18 and over struggling with:
- Bipolar Disorder
- Co-occurring disorders
- Family/Relationship Conflict
- Grief and Loss
- Major life changes
- Meaning and purpose
- Older adult issues
- Women's issues
and many more.
Erin grew up in a military family. She has lived in 11 states and has traveled through or to at least 26 states with the goal of visiting all 50. Some of her favorite places in the US are Hawaii, Alaska, and Colorado. She also enjoys traveling outside of the US and has been to many places in the Caribbean, Spain, Ireland, Italy, and Greece. To relax, Erin loves spending time with family, traveling, hanging out on the beach, reading and watching movies.
