Education and Specialty

Amie Gaskin is a board-certified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist that joined Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals in the Stockbridge Therapy Services office in June 2016. Ms. Gaskin earned her Bachelor's degree in Behavior Analysis  from Savannah State University School of Medicine located in Macon. Ms. Gaskin furthered her education and earned her Master of Family Therapy from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. Ms. Gaskin interned at several sites focused on servicing substance abuse groups for adults, behavior management groups with children, adults, couples, families, and college/graduate school students.

Professional Development

Ms. Gaskin is certified in Family Functional Therapy and is trained in Trauma Focused CB, Play Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Ms. Gaskin volunteered at several conferences and workshops coordinated by the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT) and Georgia Association of Marriage & Family Therapy (GAMFT)

Awards, Service, Honors

Ms. Gaskin was awarded the Kay Wilson Shurden Outstanding Award at Mercer University for her outstanding academic achievement in addition to being the graduate student liaison. She has worked as a co-director for a girls' mentoring program called Classy Girls to Ladies for two years.

Therapeutic Services

Ms. Gaskin specializes in working with couples, adolescents, and adults ages 15-55. Areas of treatment include: family therapy, stress management, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and adolescents with behavior challenges. Ms. Gaskin has worked with families and juveniles through the court system for 4 years in DeKalb County to prevent and interrupt criminological behaviors that lead to long-term detainment. Ms. Gaskin has a collaborative approach with providers/resources to ensure successful changes for her clients. Ms. Gaskin's treatment approach includes, but is not limited to, modalities such as CBT, Trauma Focused-CBT, Solution-Focused and Mindfulness, and many more.

Fun Facts

Ms. Gaskin enjoys painting, riding horses, traveling and mentoring young teenage girls.
