Dr. Alicia B. Oberhand is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and New Jersey. She has over 20 years of experience as a Mental Health Professional. Alicia was the Founder and Clinical Director of a private practice in New Jersey prior to moving to Georgia. She was on the Staff of 2 NJ Hospitals, where she conducted outpatient therapy, started Women’s Support Groups, and taught peer counseling, assertiveness training, and listening Skills.
Dr Oberhand was on the Advisory Board of the Cancer Institute of NJ, where she led workshops on Sexuality and Cancer. She is a Board Certified Sex Therapist and Clinical Sexologist with training in trauma and crisis intervention. Alicia was called as a first responder in Mental Health to Jersey City after 9/11 to accompany bereaved families by ferry to Ground Zero. She has taught and lectured at several Universities, such as Princeton and Fairleigh Dickinson, and presented in China to The Chinese Medical Association.
Dr Oberhand was interviewed by Barbara Walters on ABC’s ‘The View’ about Sexual Healing, where she shared the findings of her nationwide research on Female Sexuality. She co-authored a book called ‘The Dimensions of Intimacy ’ and appeared on CNBC as well as several radio programs.
Alicia provides a safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental alliance with her clients. She focuses on Mind, Body, & Spirit to facilitate the healing process. She employs many modalities including behavior modification, cognitive behavioral techniques, hypnosis, and relaxation methods. She encourages, supports and promotes emotional health for individuals, couples, and groups.
