Dr. Mark Vakkur is a board-certified psychiatrist that has joined the Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals group in May 2018. Dr. Vakkur has over 20 years of experience treating adults, children and adolescents. He treats a full spectrum of psychiatric conditions from depression and anxiety to schizophrenia. His main area of focus is ADD and ADHD especially in adolescents and adults. He works hard to apply the latest research findings to his practice but also bringing flexibility and a sense of humor to his work.
Dr. Vakkur's personal philosophy is that psychiatry should be more than simply treating symptoms. He tries to help his clients pursue happiness in their lives. Medication management is only a part(although often a critical one) of a holistic approach that should include diet, exercise, sleep, therapy, and the cultivation of gratitude and compassion.
Dr. Vakkur believes that we are never done developing and growing as strong, optismistic individuals.
