Nelda Yee is dually licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. Her professional experience has allowed her a broad knowledge base that enables her to work with diverse populations, in a variety of settings, and across cultures and socioeconomic levels.
Nelda has participated in the World APA conference as a keynote speaker, contributed to research and journal articles. She has also served as faculty member teaching undergraduate courses, conducting workshops, and developing their Psychology and peer support programs. She has provided auditing and consultations services for mental health and early childhood education programs. But her passion is in counseling, working with children and adolescents, adults, and the elderly providing individual, family, couples, and group therapies. Her experience includes working as a private practice psychotherapist, community mental health clinician, therapist in residential and outpatient hospital, and counselor in university and recreation rehabilitation programs.
Nelda’s professional training and life experiences contribute to her orientation. She is a generalist who approaches counseling from a holistic and humanistic perspective that is growth oriented, client centered, and compassionate. For Nelda, this means that the therapist operates from a place of presence and acceptance, empowering the client and facilitating the healing processes. She utilizes a dynamic and integrative approach that allows clients to connect with and build on personal strengths towards his or her unique goals.
Nelda graduated in 1992 with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage, Family and Child Therapy from the University of San Francisco in San Francisco, California.
