Susan E. Player, APRN-BC, works in the Cumming office for Georgia Behavioral Health Professionals.
Susan promotes high quality of care to psychiatric clients along with fostering a team atmosphere for clients. She currently is working full-time under the supervision of Dr. Barry N. Jones, MD at the Cumming location and at the Atlanta Addictive Disease and Psychiatric Medicine Associations.
In 1976, Susan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing. Susan furthered her education in 1998 and attended the University of Baltimore, Maryland. Where she obtained her Masters in Psychiatric Nursing.
Susan served in the U.S. Air Force as an officer and mental health nurse at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC metro area from 1998-1991. During this time, she received a team service medal and personal medal for patient teaching. Susan also was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in 1997. In addition, Susan is a current member of the Metro Atlanta Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing Group.
Susan has worked at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, DC from 1991-1999. She has provided direct nursing care to patients and normal volunteers involved in various pediatric metabolic, mental health, and Alzheimer's disease research. Susan obtains certification every 5 years for 150 CEU's (Continuing Education Credits) as required by the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She has fulfilled CEU credits in Addictions, specific psychiatric disorders, preventive health care and complementary and integrative medicine. Susan has worked part-time and assisted in the expansion of mental health services in a nursing home and assisted living in Washington, DC metro area.
