Tami’s approach to therapy is Person Centered and Cognitive Behavioral. Tami believes in building therapeutic relationships with clients by being genuine, empathic, and demonstrating unconditional positive regard. She believes in the therapeutic process of meeting a client where they are and assisting the client with setting goals and identifying his or her own process of change. She assists in the client identifying and changing negative thought patterns. As a Registered Play Therapist, she also believes in the importance of play in children and adults. Sandtray therapy teaches children and adults about inner thoughts and ideas and helps the client work through difficult issues without talking about them directly at first. Other play therapy techniques also help to identify underlying issues. As an addictions counselor, Tami is able to assist those battling alcohol, drugs, and other addictions.
