Dr. Tim Brown is a licensed psychologist in Georgia who has practiced as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and educator since completing his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1991. Dr. Brown works with clients ranging from young adulthood to adults in the later stages of life. His approach to therapy is grounded in cognitive-behavioral principles that are tailored to the individual. He believes that it is important for clients to gain a better understanding of the interplay between their thinking, behavior and emotions—and to use that insight as a guide for making active changes in their lives. Dr. Brown also emphasizes how our relationships with other people play an important role in shaping how we think, feel and act. He utilizes interpersonal therapy strategies to help clients improve the quality of their interactions with others. In his spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, watching sports, reading history and biographies, and doing projects around the house. In addition to clinical practice, he has maintained a strong interest in the broader field of psychology as a scientific discipline and recently taught undergraduate courses in both general and developmental psychology.
